Welcome back to Dear Gaping, my Friends. Today we're talking about the big mistakes that we make when we're manifesting the four biggest mistakes, actually, and what I wanna share with you is gonna kind of surprise you today, actually, I think is gonna really surprise you. And as we move into manifesting season, this topic of the mistakes, the big blocks and the mistakes that we make.

Now let's dive into this show. That's all related to witnessing the blocks, the four biggest manifesting mistakes. You're here right now listening to this because you are interested in spirituality, because you are wanting to manifest more into your life because you have a desired outcome, because you [00:03:00] know that there's a power beyond your physical site and you long for it and you wanna develop it, you wanna access it.

You wanna use that power to create, uh, better frequency in your life to create more of what you want. To be a positive energy in the world. I know that's what you want, but you feel blocked. You don't know why. You try all the things and you're visualizing and you're repeating affirmations, and you're trying to hold onto that super high vibe 24 7, but then you're asking yourself, what am I doing wrong?

Why isn't this working? Am I just not doing enough? If that's you, then maybe you've been manifesting the wrong way. On today's episode, I'm gonna give you a brand new perspective. That feeling of forcing and that feeling of pushing and striving, that is the number one thing that's actually blocking the miracles to flow naturally into your life.

There is a beautiful message from the metaphysical text, of course, in miracles, that miracles are natural, and when they're not [00:04:00] occurring, something has gone wrong. So when we're not experiencing the natural flow of the miraculous in our life, we're not experiencing. Resolutions and circumstances that feel synchronistic and inspiration and creative energy flowing, then we are in the way.

Then there's something that we're doing that's in the way. Now, don't judge yourself, don't block yourself. Just listen up. I've got a pass for you. I'm gonna share with you the foremost common manifesting mistakes, and I'm gonna help you understand these mistakes. Forgive yourself if you've made them and help you get out of your own way.

This is an important episode because you might think you're doing all the right things, but the things that you're doing could be the exact block in the way of your desires. So let's take a moment and look at all of these blocks and start to adjust them. So the first step is to recognize where we're going wrong.
I'm gonna break down the biggest mistakes people make when they think that they're manifesting. The first mistake is manic manifesting. And if you know what I'm talking about, you know who you [00:05:00] are. These are the folks who are doing all the things. They're reading the books, they're doing the affirmation cards.

They're saying the mantras. They're on their yoga mat. They're meditating daily. They're doing all the things, they're doing their vision boards, and you're doing, doing, doing. But you're actually in the way of the allowing, and this is when you're so attached to that outcome that you're starting to micromanage the universe.

You're trying to control the how and the when, and that's when your energy is sort of tight and frantic and not relaxed and allowing. You're in the opposite energy of the art, of allowing and instead of trying to control your job is to actually surrender. Surrender doesn't mean that you're giving up. It actually means that you're giving over, that you're getting out of the way of your dreams, and it's a conscious decision to release that timeline.

And to stop focusing on the plan and the when and the how, and actually just get into the wonder, the wonder of the universe, what is possible opening up each day and just seeing to yourself what's [00:06:00] possible. I have this desire, but what if it could be even bigger than this? And recognizing that all that doing and controlling is locking the manifestation in my own life.

Recently there was an area where. I've been trying to control and I've been trying to control for many years in this area and wanting it to be a different way. But all the doing to try to make it different was actually getting in the way of the miracle. And so as soon as I stopped doing and I just started to witness the situation and witness what was happening around me and put myself into this place of just giving it up almost in a good way, giving it up.

Saying, I don't have the answers. I don't have the solution. I don't know how to get where I wanna get to. The moment I gave it up, solutions started to present themselves to me. Why did that happen? Because I got out of the way. Because I started to just get my hands out of it, to just pull back and just witness.[00:07:00] 

Just see the situation in a way where it wasn't me trying to force it to be something different, but instead to just hold hope for what I wanted it to be, and then completely let it go. In the experience of just giving it up, I received so much clarity, direction, and spontaneous manifestations, so many things that I couldn't even have possibly imagined because I couldn't imagine them because all of my focus and my attention was on trying to control the outcome.

As soon as I stopped controlling the outcome, I stopped putting my focus on the wrong thing. And in that place of just being in that surrendered state of literally giving it up, saying, hail Mary, I don't know what to do here. I'm gonna give it over. I was given the direction and the clarity and the inspiration to make the right choices, and now the situation's actually working itself out.

So if there's. A relationship that you want to attract in your life. Stop doing, doing, doing, and just maybe give it up for [00:08:00] a month. Give it up. Say, I'm gonna give this to the universe. Show me what to do. I'm gonna get my hands out of this. If there's a job that you want to attract, give it up. Stop obsessing about the how and the when give it up.

Yeah. You still take action. You're gonna put your resume out, but you're giving up the outcome and you give up the outcome. You stop manic manifesting, and you open up your conscious awareness to the possibilities beyond your logic and your reason. Those possibilities are endless, but we can't see those possibilities when we're in that controlling, when our hands are in the mix.

We have to take our hands off the wheel. We have to give it over and just let the universe show us what to do. This is the first block and that's the first step. Try this affirmation. Thank you universe for taking this from me. Show me what to do. Just start saying that daily. Thank you universe for taking this desire from me and show me what to do.

Try that for a week. For the next seven days, say this affirmation. Thank you universe for taking this desire from me. Show me what to [00:09:00] do. Giving it over to the universe allows you to get your hands off the wheel and to give it over so that you can be guided to the next right action and to the wild synchronicities and to all the possibilities that the universe can reveal to you.

The first time I talked about manic manifesting on stage, the audience related so hard and we were all laughing. So let me play it now for you.

The next question I have for you is, when you're thinking about manifestation and calling in new things, are some of you manic manifesting? So this is really important. Are some of you those folks who are like, I've got the list, I've got the vision board. I've said it a thousand times. I've told all my friends, I want him, I know exactly what he looks like and I feel like he's with me.

And we're walking down the street together, holding out. You know who you are. You know who you are, right? You know exactly who you are. Look, there's nothing wrong with being clear. There's nothing wrong with being clear, but more importantly, I want you to be clear about how you wanna feel and I [00:10:00] want you to just feel it.

So if you want a romantic partner, make sure you have a real hot romance with yourself. If you want more money, make sure you have a real good relationship with the money you currently have. 

If you want a new job, make sure you have a real good relationship with the job you have today. Everybody get that?

People think, oh, well if I appreciate my job that I have now, then I'll only stay there. No, absolutely not. If you appreciate the job that you have now, then you show up to that job with Grace. You show up at to that job with a good attitude. You show up to that job with a better approach. You show up to that job with more energy.

That job begins to thank you. That job says, wait, maybe there's another job for you. That job then says, here, you're promoted. Here's some more money. Have a great life. You create your reality. Your intentions create your reality. So if you are constantly in a place of thinking, I hate this, I hate this, I hate this, you are [00:11:00] serving that.

And this is a big topic I'm addressing right now at this time of year. We're in my manifesting challenge season, and all the details are in the show notes in the manifesting challenge. I'm giving you tools to actually manifest, but some of the biggest and most important methods in the challenge are about surrender or about how to give it over, how to let go and allow, and how to trust that the universe is guiding you.

Now, the next big mistake that we make when we're manifesting is that we focus on the form, not the feeling. I remember this metaphor that I once heard, Marianne Williams and Sharon in a talk sort of described it like there's this big baroque frame.

And we're so focused on the frame and what we think we want, that we forget about the content within the frame. So we wanna focus on the content, not the form, not the frame [00:12:00] around it. We wanna focus on the content. Now, what is the content within our desire? It's the feeling, it's the energy. And the mistake that we make is being completely focused on the form of the desire, the exact job, a specific amount of money.

Instead of feeling the feeling behind it. When we get rigid with that checklist, we limit what we actually can receive and we limit what the universe can deliver to us. So the idea is to get clear about how we wanna feel. Do you wanna feel abundant? Do you wanna feel free? Do you wanna feel loved? I wanna feel supported.

That's the feeling I'm always wanting to manifest. I want to feel supported. When you focus on the feeling, you actually become a match for anything that can bring you that feeling. You start to match your energy with that feeling. And often this happens in ways that are really magnificent and in ways that you couldn't ever have planned.

And for me, I know that right now I'm wanting to manifest more support in my career so that I could actually do more of my gifts, I can bring more out. And [00:13:00] so as soon as I gave it up, which was the first step, stopped manic manifesting and gave up the desire. I started to see these different support systems fall into place, and by focusing on the feeling of support, I've become unapologetic about the support that I want to receive.

And then when I'm in dialogue with people who are in a role that is meant to support me, I'm able to ask for what I want. I'm able to speak freely about my desires. I'm able to stop doing it all and let people do for me. And that's because I've been in the energy of feeling the feeling of what it feels like to be supported.

By assuming that feeling, remember, this is the art of assumption, assuming that feeling has allowed me to begin to receive it in my life. Because I, now I'm a match for it.

I'm 46 years old now, and as I age, I am super committed to my longevity, and that means my [00:14:00] muscles, but also my flexibility because I'm really good with a HIIT workout. I've got like more muscles now than I did in my twenties big time.

Back when we were filming Dear Gabby Life, a lot of people were addressing this mistake. It just kept coming up and up and up. So I'm gonna share this beautiful exchange that I had with [00:19:00] Cornelia and she was focusing on her plan rather than the feeling. Listen to this. Let's bring in our first guest. 

Hi Gabby. Hi sweetheart. How are you? So, I think I manifested a few things in my life so far, and I couldn't be more grateful for how my life turned out right now. But at the moment there are a few things that are full of uncertainty, I would say. And last year I had everything sorted out for the next three years.

Everything would've been planned. And then the universe was like, no, national, not. But at the moment there are days where I'm super, like, I know this is just unfolding the way it should. And then there are moments I'm fulling anxiety, I would say. Hmm. And I don't really have the faith in some moments that everything's going to work out just as it's supposed to be.

So my love, I heard you say now a few times, that when you first [00:20:00] started, you said, I had the next three years totally planned out. That is the problem. Yeah, because the key to getting back into alignment with your attracting power is all about forgetting what you think you need. So if you're in a story of I am going to get that, or I need that, or it has to be that way, what's happening?

If it's not that way, you then start to feel disappointed out of control, misaligned. In that place of, it's not happening on my time, it's not happening in my way. You're actually creating more resistance to actually attracting what it is that you do want. So the practice here is to forget what you think you need and just start to be in the feelings, be in the energy, ground yourself in the essence of what it is that you want, which ultimately, we all want the same thing.

We wanna feel good. We wanna feel good about [00:21:00] ourselves. We wanna feel good in our bodies. We wanna feel good in our relationships. We wanna feel ease, joy, happiness, grace, abundance. Mm-hmm. And those feelings are in our control. We have the power within us to adjust our nervous system, adjust our energy, not just our feelings, but if our feelings are completely based on an outcome and if we're gonna put all of our stake in the outcome.

Then we're gonna stay in misalignment because nothing outside of ourselves can actually be the source of grace that we have to access and learn to access from within. So your Dear Gabby lesson today is to forget what you think you need. Let go of your timeline, let go of your plans, surrender it all, and get into a regular practice of prayer.

So prayer or intention setting, whatever you wanna call it, I don't care. But every single day, thank the universe for taking from you whatever you think you need, and revealing to you how you can feel good today. [00:22:00] Thank you universe for taking away from me whatever I think I need and helping me get into alignment with feeling good today.

And that brings me to the next mistake. So now you're feeling the feeling, but what happens if you're over spiritualizing? This is what I call spiritual bypassing, and it's a huge block to your manifesting power. It's a big one. It's when you try to slap a positive affirmation on top of a deep seated wound and a fear that you need to address, or you're saying things like, I'm abundant when underneath it, there's a part of you that feels so unworthy of a abundance, and this is when you're affirming things that you don't believe in.

But the problem is, is your energy doesn't lie. You can pretend you're okay, but you're not. And so the practice here is to actually stop overriding our big feelings or spiritually bypassing our experiences and start to gently and lovingly tend inward and really address the core emotions that are happening inside so that we can actually give ourselves permission to focus on the [00:23:00] parts of us that need some love and start to acknowledge the fear is the first step to healing and acknowledging that fear and acknowledging that feeling is this first step to healing it.

This is the real work of manifesting, which is to heal the parts of yourself and the wounded parts of yourself. And this is why I actually say that my book, Self-Help, is my greatest manifesting book of all because in that book I'm teaching a therapy called Internal Family Systems Therapy. And that.

Practice is a four step practice of focusing and getting into relationship with the parts of yourself that feel unworthy, that feel unlovable, that feel inadequate, and all those parts of ourselves can't be overridden by spiritual practice. We can't slap a spiritual practice on top of a feeling of unworthiness because that feeling of unworthiness is gonna be way stronger than any affirmation.

The feelings don't lie. So we have to address those core wounds, and I think if you're someone who's like, yeah, that sounds really good, Gabby, but how do I do it? Well, good is I wrote a book for you. It's called Self-Help. This is your chance to change your life. I [00:24:00] definitely would suggest taking that step further.

If you're somebody who's feeling like I'm unworthy of what I desire, or my feelings of inadequacy or blocking me, or my feelings of this is too good to be true, or blocking me from being able to attract the greatest manifesting book I've ever written. Is self-help because that's a practice of changing the beliefs.

Remember, I've said this a thousand times, you manifest what you believe, so we have to heal the core beliefs that block the manifesting. And again, this is a four step practice. It's very easy to apply and there's videos that we have about it. But also just grab the book. The book will guide you through this and that will be your best step to making these changes.

Let me share a passage from self-Help with you now. For nearly 20 years, I've been teaching spiritual principles in the power of manifesting. Over those years, I've noticed a common trend is that many people tend to overlook the really deep inner work necessary for real lasting change. The hard truth is that although we can make surface level adjustments to our actions, true [00:25:00] change can only happen when we heal from within and address the core beliefs that block us from manifesting the life we desire.

The negative beliefs from our past, our traumas, our suffering and our pain are all replayed in the present and projected onto the future. Beliefs such as it's not safe to ask for what I want. I struggle with money. I'm not smart, or I'm not worthy of love, can dominate our consciousness and manifest themselves into our reality.

We manifest what we believe. Then I go on a little bit further. I get it. Most of us want a quick fix and an easy method for manifesting. We want a tool for attracting romance and abundance and success. The desire for quick change is understandable and sometimes quick change is even possible. That's because manifesting methods can improve your outlook, your attitude, and your energy, allowing you to attract certain desires into your life.

But once you attract what you want, can you keep it? [00:26:00] Will you believe you're worthy of it? No. It doesn't last because lasting shifts require genuine, long lasting change. The kind of change that cracks you open to infinite possibilities and redirects your life. That change requires a deep dive inward That change requires self-help.

So that's the answer and that's why I wrote this book, because the, the True manifesting flex is inside the pages of this book. The True Manifesting Flex is. Healing the core beliefs that block you from your manifesting power, and the journey of undoing those beliefs is a journey of looking inward, gently.

It's a journey of checking in instead of checking out, having a desire to heal and change, and that desire is actually enough to put you into the practice. And then you focus your [00:27:00] attention inward and you start to pay some attention to those core beliefs that are blocking you, and you offer those core beliefs, some curiosity, helping them soften, and you offer those core beliefs, some compassionate connection, asking what do you need?

Talking to that belief as if it's a part of you, and then you let this energy of a new way of perceiving those beliefs, a compassionate energy, a confident energy, a clear energy, the manifesting energy. And start to emerge naturally. And this is what this entire book does. This book puts you on this path of these four steps.

Choose to check in curiosity, compassionate connection, and then allowing and checking for the self qualities of Cs, these compassion and curiosity and all these qualities. Checking in to see them all come through. And it's a simple four step practice. So start today by realizing that we manifest what we believe.

You might wanna look at those beliefs that you've had on repeat and ask [00:28:00] yourself, how's that working out for me? Because you might be manifesting a lot of things you don't wanna manifest. And checking in with those core beliefs and opening your heart to those core beliefs and making a commitment today, am I willing to change the core beliefs that have held me back?

Am I willing to change the core beliefs that have held me back? And if the answer's yes, then you're already 10 steps ahead. You're 10 steps ahead with that answer being yes, because that answer being yes, sends this message to your inner world and to the universe that you are ready to have a gentle path, that you're ready to say yes to a, a new way of living.

Yes to a new way of perceiving yourself. And then the answers. I mean, thank God I write self-help books because I don't have to just talk about this stuff. I can say, here's how you go do it. Okay, self-help. This is your chance to change your life. [00:29:00] I can tell you the promise though. The promise of making the commitment to your belief systems and focusing your attention inward instead of checking out all the time and overriding yourself the promise of turning inward.

The real promise is that you can heal on a molecular level. And when you create that kind of healing inside, you start to feel a new energy emerge, and that new energy is yourself. It's your self energy, and that new energy is confident, and it is creative, and it is courageous, and it's clear, and it's got this connectedness and committed, and you let this energy just become the momentum that is the driving force of your life.

So that's my promise to all of you. I'm gonna be talking about this a lot. These four steps are gonna be workshopped. We're gonna come back with them a lot. But I want you to see how it's the new manifesting. I really want you to see how when you change [00:30:00] your core beliefs, you change your point of attraction.

You manifest what you believe. And so if you're one of those people out there that's like, I'm a pusher, I'm a controller, I'm, you know, a manic manifester that really resonated with you. Then definitely, definitely consider first today. Just noticing the blocks, right? That's the first step. Notice the blocks.

Be the non-judgmental witness of those blocks. Recognize that those blocks are belief systems. Ask yourself, how long has this belief system been around? The answer's gonna be forever since I was a kid, as long as I can remember. And then ask yourself today. Write it down on a piece of paper. Am I willing to change and heal this belief system?

Even in my manifesting challenge, I address spiritual bypassing. I'm really clear that we're not there to try to override our big feelings, and there's even practices in the challenge that help you tend to those feelings and get honest about those feelings, but also being in a high vibrational frequency.

So the thing I want you to recognize is that you can be working on those big core wounds and still be manifesting [00:31:00] what you want. Why? Because you are witnessing the wounds. You're the non-judgmental witness of the fears that are inside, or the feelings that are feeling out of balance with what it is that you desire, and you're not wiping them out or spiritually bypassing them or overriding them with some affirmation.

You're just focusing some attention to them. You're getting into a relationship with them, and so two things can be true. You can be. Tending to deep feelings that have been with you for a long time and being in a high vibrational state and attracting what you desire, two things can be true. So it's not scary and it's not wrong to focus on your big feelings.

And finally, the biggest mistake that people make is that they're waiting to see it before they believe it. This is a huge mistake. You're waiting for the evidence before you have the faith, and you have that quite backward. You have to feel it first. You have to believe it first. You have to have that energy and that sensation inside of you to actually allow.

What it is that you want to come into your life, you have to feel that freedom. You have to feel that abundance. You have to feel that support. The support that I [00:37:00] know. I wanna start to feel it inside and notice what does it feel like? My stomach is relaxed, my jaw is relaxed. I feel like things are happening around me and I'm just being taken care of and feeling into that supportive energy.

So feeling the feeling, assuming that energy, and really recognizing that the feeling shifting is when the circumstances start to shift. So. Be the source of energy that you wanna attract. And when you cultivate that really powerful energy, that's when you start to become a magnet for that desire. And there's a beautiful story that I heard Wayne Dyer share.

My teacher, Wayne Dyer, he shared a story, but a young boy called Teddy, and he believed that he would one day be the president of the United States, and the other children were constantly ridiculing him for this really seemingly impossible dream that he had. They made fun of him. And Mrs. Thompson, his teacher, who understood the power of visualization, told him that if he truly believed he would be president, he should act like it and not worry about what the other kids were saying to him and how he was [00:38:00] being bullied around it.

So she encouraged him to see himself as president every single day to believe it, to feel it in his heart, and to not let any of their doubts sway his conviction. And years later, after TE became the president, he sent Ms. Thompson a letter thanking her for believing in him and for helping him see it to the end.

And he reminded her that he had to see it before he could believe it. And the story shows us how a person's belief can lead them to achieve their goals and their dreams, even when others are skeptical. So just like Teddy, you need to feel it first. And so I'm gonna share another beautiful exchange from an old episode, and this is with Magda who is doing all of the right things.

But still feeling blocked. So let me share this clip now. Let's bring in one more manifesting question. Hi, gorgeous. 

What I'm struggling with is, so my life has sort of changed a huge deal since last summer. I'm an attorney by practice, but I wasn't really feeling fulfilled in the [00:39:00] way that I was practicing. It's a noble cause for sure, but the way that I was practicing wasn't aligning and I finally decided that I was going to quit my job and start my own practice. I really had other dreams that I wanted to fulfill, and so I went on and started to get into television, film, theater. So I'd been doing a lot of theater, a lot of film, been getting a lot of green lights toward the television film.

Doors are opening in ways that I think are just reassuring. The one issue that continues to be a thing is my finances, and it's probably one of the first things that I manifested was financial, abundance and freedom. And I'm just not there yet. I know that I need to get into a good vibration. The week that we did Joy, just have fun for the week, I booked my first commercial, right?

Yeah, girl. I like, oh my God. It was, this works. This works. So I know these things. [00:40:00] But at the same time I get notifications that I have bills coming out. There are these like real life things that just keep taking me out of where I know I'm supposed to be. How do I get back to this space that I know works and feels good and is right when I'm constantly sort of seeing taken out of it?

So, lemme ask you a question. Are you still doing the legal practice on the side?  I am, but it's not really moving well because I don't know. In my heart, that's what I really wanna do. I'm doing it to pay the bills to try to, there you go. Okay. My energy is not there. 

Abundance comes in many forms and sometimes it comes in ways that aren't as sexy.
I wanna give you a little practical guidance. In addition to spiritual guidance, what I believe is that when we wanna make a change in our career. We don't always wanna just leap too fast because it actually interferes with the manifesting process because [00:41:00] not having any money doesn't feel good and it's also not sustainable.

And so by focusing all in on the new career, there is this element of actually creating more resistance because you're not allowing yourself to have a sustainable financial income. To keep you in an energy that feels safe and secure. So I actually think that the best manifesting method right now would be to make sure that you're focused on earning in the way that you know you can consistently earn and open up to creative possibilities for clients that bring you more joy, right?

For projects that are more fun for you, you have a skillset that you're good at that makes money. That can be with you for as long as it needs to be till the universe really reveals to you, oh yeah, it's time to walk away. So I really wanna encourage you to just hold on to that practice, put energy into that practice.

Recognize the [00:42:00] abundance that you have, this skillset that people need. Recognize the abundance when a client passes your desk and you can charge less than the other. Big firm over there and you can make it really valuable for that person. The abundance is reciprocal and what that does my love, while it's not your dream career, it actually puts you into a better point of attraction to attract more of what you want for your dream career.

I think that you just also need a little bit more clarity, Magda, because I feel like. You could define what that is. You can say, I wanna manifest five clients at this monthly retainer at this many hours, and that will offer me the abundance I need to have savings, pay my bills, and the time I need to nurture my future career.

That clarity. Really sets the boundaries of what it is that you want to attract so that you're not feeling this sort of tethered from, you know, one thing to the other thing. And you're clear. You're clear with universe, yeah, this is the time I'm willing and want to [00:43:00] allocate. This is how much money I wanna make.

This is actually logically how I could make that happen. This is the desire. Yeah. And this situation will give me runway to open up the creative possibilities to be in my art. We can be multi-passionate. We can have lots of different right talents. We can have ways that we make money. Listen, I think anyone that's an actor or in that field, they have multiple profit centers. So you've got a great one. Don't lose it. Nurture it. 

Yeah, nurture it. Nurture it. Let it be part of what it is that you're creating. So the clear path is this. It's not about working harder, it's not about pushing past your feelings. It's about releasing control and starting to surrender and using your affirmation, thank you universe for taking this from me and show me what to do.

And it's about focusing on the feeling and not the form. So getting into that energy of what it feels like to attract into your body and into your energetic state, and to [00:44:00] stop bypassing fear by trying to heal it, by maybe picking up the book self-help or maybe opening your heart to going to a therapy session and doing deeper work around this practice.

And I love self-help for you for this. And then embodying the energy of that desire. Now just being it now, experiencing it now, making these shifts is really a beautiful daily practice. It's not about doing too much.

It's about aligning deeper. Getting out of the way. This really means releasing the timeline and the plan and all the mental chatter about, is this supposed to be this way or this is how I should have done it. It's about trusting that spirit, the energy of the universe, that your higher power, that the universal energy of love and your inner guidance system has such a better plan than you do, and it's letting your ego release and releasing that control no longer forcing and just allowing.[00:47:00] 
Just take a deep breath when I say that.
