unlock your abundance: key mindset shifts for financial freedom – big talk with lewis howes (part 2)

[00:00:00] The following podcast is a dear media production.

Hey there. Welcome to Dear Gabby. I'm your host Gabby Bernstein, and if you landed here, it is absolutely no accident. It means that you're ready to feel good and manifest a life beyond your wildest dreams. Let's get started.

Welcome back to Dear Gabby. Welcome back. Lemme ask you a quick question. How does money make you feel? Big question. Do you have negative thoughts about money? Are you struggling to attract abundance into your life? Do you have a fearful relationship with money? I got your back today, my friend. On last week's episode, I was joined by my beautiful brother Lewis Howes, and we talked about his new book, make Money Easy, create Financial Freedom, and Live A Richer Life.

And it was such a powerful topic that we couldn't cover everything in one episode. So this week I'm [00:01:00] sharing the second part of my conversation with Lewis. I. And if you didn't listen to the first part of this episode, don't sweat it because our conversation is so gorgeous. You can just listen to this half and then go back to the last one.

I also wanna let you guys know that as a Gabby Coaching member, I recommend the abundance meditation inside your app as a way to go deeper into the themes of this topic. And if you're not a Gabby coaching member, I don't know what you're waiting for. Literally, what are you waiting for? It could be your coach in your pocket all the time, anywhere.

Hundreds of meditations and daily coaching practices and all of my workshops and everything, Gabby, all my live talks, everything's in the app. It's all there. Daily card pulls, pull affirmation cards like. If you are looking for a life coach, look no further. I'm in the app. It's all there. It's dear gabby.com/app and you can try it out for free. Go to dear gabby.com/app and again to my members, there's the abundance meditation that's in the app and there's the manifesting meditations that will also help you attract [00:02:00] abundance. While we're talking about the Gabby Coaching membership, I wanted to take a moment to share this really beautiful review that somebody left us.

They said I was apprehensive about spending money on an app, but every day I am more and more grateful that I did. It's truly outstanding and if you need some daily boosts and guidance, Gabby's care and love come through in a way that feels very personal, like you have someone who is on your side.

Rooting for you and somebody else said, I just completed a seven day body love challenge and really helped me change how I feel about my body almost immediately. And I love that I can go back and redo the challenges whenever I need to. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention there's challenges in there and somebody else said it's a great way to start the day.

I'd wanted to get into a morning journaling and just pick up my pen and notebook, but this seems a lot easier. Gabby's app has a journal section that you can do before or after any meditation. So guys just. Do not. Wait another minute. Go to dear gabby.com/app and get your hands on [00:03:00] the app, my friends.

It's a really valuable tool that will change your life forever. I can be your coach anytime, anywhere for the price of one traditional coaching session, the price of what would be maybe one inexpensive therapist you'd get me for the year. So go to dear gabby.com/app. And now before we dive into the show, I'm gonna pick a card 'cause that's my new ritual with you.

I'm gonna pick you a little card from my super attractor deck. Here we go. Let's see what we get here. Let's see what we get. Let's see what we get. Boom, boom, boom, boom. Oh, what a good one. True manifesting is about receiving what is of the highest good for all. Alright, well this is actually one of my favorite cards.

I love this card because it reminds us that what we focus on and what we're struggling to hold onto and control actually blocks our manifesting power. Something that we actually talk about in the episode today with Lewis, how, how, when you focus less on the controlling and you let go of what is the highest good, it starts to come [00:04:00] into your life.

And so this is really about releasing your desires to the universe and right now, take whatever that desire is that you're holding onto. Whatever it is that you're strangling or trying to control, and just offer it up to the universe with this prayer. Thank you universe for revealing to me what is at the highest good for all, and surrender it Now, give it over.

That message of just welcoming the highest good allows you to just step back and not think about what you need and focus on what is of the highest good for all. Takes the pressure off your manifestation and gives you a a lot of freedom as you move through. I. All right. Wow. This is a beautiful episode guys.

This is gonna be such a gorgeous time for you to experience these new shifts that are gonna come through as you start to release your attachment to money, and you start to allow what's of the highest good to move through. Listen to this episode, and I love you.

What are [00:05:00] three ways we block our money? I think first the things we speak out loud about money. Really when we speak about it in a negative way, 'cause it starts to dictate how we feel. First the way we speak will really kind of dictate where we're going. So if we're saying, ah, money's really hard, or I'm not sure about this and it's gonna be challenging for me to make more money, and ah, it's just really confusing for me.

So I'm not sure, I won't even take it on speaking about it in a negative way. An uncertain way is gonna un create uncertain results. And so if you're not sure about it, you can say, I'm not sure about this right now, but I'm excited to figure it out and I'm excited to figure out who can help me, what resources I can get so I can learn about it better.

Okay, so it's reframing your words from keeping money blocked to allowing it to flow. Cut. The, the second one would be your thoughts. You know, we think in powerful ways. If you're thinking, if you're saying one thing, but thinking the opposite, you're gonna block yourself as well. Totally. So start to think about this as well, whether it's through visualization or [00:06:00] meditation, and start thinking about it.

And then the third one would be through our feelings. So there are words, our thoughts and our feelings, and that is gonna create the energy for us to show up. And when I enter a room and I catch myself all the time, or I used to catch myself a lot because I used to feel very insecure in life in my twenties and early thirties.

Mm-hmm. And I always had to prepare myself and I would do this trick literally when I'd enter any doorway. I would just lift my shoulders up and I'd smile when I walked through any door, whether there was people there or not, to prepare myself to enter into rooms and be ready for opportunities. And it might seem like a weird, like you still do that trick.

You still walk in with that open heart, but it's just, but I'm not insecure to do, I don't do it anymore because it's natural. I'm just doing it because it's natural. Yeah. And so I train myself physically. To shift my energy by entering doors. And so I would just imagine when I'd enter a door, like there's a string pulling me closer to the top of the The doorframe.

Yeah. Yeah. By doing that as an [00:07:00] action, as a behavior, you start to train yourself physically to enter rooms to create more opportunities. Yeah. And those are a few things we can do to just start to unblock ourselves with money. What's the third block? To our money, to our abundance. Well, I think the first is the, what we say our, our words, our feelings, our thoughts, and then our feelings.

Yes. I would say our feelings, which is our thoughts and our words, dictate our feelings. That's why I think when you physically start to create these habits, to shift yourself, you can start to feel different. And again, it took me a while because if you're insecure, if you're not confident, if you lack belief in yourself, you can't lie to yourself necessarily.

It's hard to fake it. Like, I was still insecure, but I said I'm gonna do my best with what I have. Yeah. And I'm gonna show up open-minded and curious. Early on when I, I think when I met you in 2008 or 2009, or when I first learned about you, I was going to these social media networking events and [00:08:00] conferences around the country and affiliate events and all these different things.

And I did not belong. I did not belong in these rooms. I did not belong, you know, with like the A-list speakers and the New York Times bestsellers, I was a nobody, right? I was just like learning about LinkedIn and teaching people some stuff, but I wasn't at that level of caliber of credibility, of experience, of wisdom.

I was in my late twenties and I hadn't really done anything, and I couldn't lie to myself and say, oh, I belong, or I made it, or I'm at the same level. I could bring something that most people were unwilling to do, which is curiosity, and I just asked questions. So I literally would enter these rooms, like lift my head up close to the door and just smile and enter a room and acted like I belonged.

Then I would meet these individuals. I would go up to someone like you back then and I would just ask questions. Yeah, you did. Curiosity is currency as well. People love to be asked questions about how they overcame things, what they [00:09:00] did, what they thought about to get to where they are. They love to talk about these things.

So true. And so questions became a cur a currency for me, and it attracted people. To me, they wanted to help me. They wanted to give to me. Yep. So whatever it is, your unique thing for me, it was like, interestingly, interestingly, your financial currency. The reason I believe that you've had so much abundance in your life is because of your curious nature.

I believe it. Yeah. You, when I first sat down for the first time in interview with you, for the first time ever. I remember walking out of there being like, that is the absolute best interview I've ever had in my life, and it still to this day is my, I always say this, that your interviews on the School of Greatness are my favorite interviews.

Thanks. Ever. You listen, you're curious, you're genuine. You offer that generosity Yes. Through your curiosity. Yes. Which allows the listener to feel seen as well. A hundred percent. Which is why there's a billion downloads. This is just living proof. Yes. Of exactly what you're saying. I think that also, I can give an example.

When I was first starting out, you talked about [00:10:00] your thoughts. Your feelings. Mm-hmm. And your, your words. Words. So my words, let's start with, when I was first starting out, I still had to do PR to pay the bills. Yes. I was running my own PR business to pay the bills, but I was moonlighting as a, as a motivational speaker.

And so when people would ask me, what do I do? I say, I would say I'm a motivational speaker and a self-help book author. I did not have a published book, but I was working on it. Mm-hmm. Right. So I'm a, I'm an author. I. Spa words. Yes. But I believed it. I said it. And why was I in such belief in faith? Because I was working on the book, because I was speaking it.

Mm-hmm. At night, at the marketing classroom. Yeah. Because I was living it, even if I wasn't being paid for it. And so speaking it, that's exactly right. Mm-hmm. And then feeling it, just being in the practice of doing the thing, even if it's not something you're paid for yet, is energetically resonant. And that sends a message to the universe.

Yes. And then believing it and living it. Mm-hmm. And witnessing it. Mm-hmm. This is who I am. So, yeah. And I think another type of currency is consistency. Totally. This is, you've [00:11:00] been doing this what, 15 plus years now? I've been doing this 20 years. I mean 20 plus years. This is 12 years of me and the School of Ness podcast, but longer before I started the show.

And it's like the consistency of just showing up every single week. And it doesn't mean every week we're winning. Yes. Or growing, or there's some big moment. It's like, I think con consistency is a currency. Curiosity is a currency. Yeah. All these things add value over time. You appreciate and value the longer you do something.

Yeah. And it doesn't mean you're gonna get millions of dollars are gonna flow to you right away when you launch something. You're just getting started. Maybe, but maybe not. But the more consistent you are and the more you appreciate in your value and do the inner work, the greater abundance you will attract.

How much does focus play into attracting abundance? Focus on the specific thing. Well, here's the thing. I think when I was launching School of Greatness, I had a lot of other programs and products and coaching and mastermind and membership. I was trying [00:12:00] everything touring and events, and it created more financial abundance, but it created more stress and overwhelm too.

So I think you need to understand what is your definition of abundance for you. And I started to focus more of my energy on one or two main things, the show and building the show and making that better. Eliminating multiple seven figure revenue streams. And for a year and a half I felt like, oh, I'm losing money.

I'm making less. But I had more peace. I had more abundance, I had more time, I had less stress, and I had more energy and focus to build one thing that now is continuing to grow to greater abundance. So for me, I had to try all those things at once, 'cause to explore and see what I liked. But then when I realized, Hmm, I don't feel abundant internally, even though though my bank account is growing.

My, my inner worth is stressed out. Let me start to clean house and reevaluate and see what I wanna do now, which is what we talked about earlier, is just having a goal and a focus Yes. Of where you want to go. Yeah. And a clear picture [00:13:00] and visualization in mind. And I realized I was 30 pounds heavier. I was stressed, I was working hard, making lots of money, but I didn't feel like anything was excelling at the best level.

Totally. You know, it was kind of all like at a level six, seven. Maybe an eight here or there, but it wasn't a 10 or eight, nine or 10, and now I have more energy and focus and clarity to just make each thing better than I'm working on. Yeah, you've taught me that. Yeah. In fact, you're very much mentoring me, literally just through that story.

Mm-hmm. Right now, because we, many of us that are multi-passionate and talented, a lot of things, talent or, or, or just have lots of interests or whatever it might be, that's a blessing and a curse. Yeah, so that focus, it's like anything when you're manifesting, right? Mm-hmm. It's like that single pointed focus is gonna really, yes, make things bring more, bring more expansiveness.

And you probably see this with a lot of your followers or listeners or subscribers as well, where you see pe. Some people say, well, I got 10 different passions. I don't know which one to [00:14:00] do. And they try to do them all, and they all fail. It's just really hard to do that unless you have so much money and a bigger team and you can mobilize your team to, to execute on those things.

Guys, you hear me say it. Therapy changed my life. I literally wrote a book about the therapy that changed my life, so I can't, I can't shout it from the rooftops enough. We are living in very chaotic times. We are overwhelmed. We are hit with so much stimulus. There's just a lot going on everybody, and it can feel so, so out of control.

And the most important thing I do every single week to feel that sense of safety and control is get on my two therapy sessions a week. I get on my personal and my couples, and I gotta tell you, it's the most important thing I do for myself. I would not be where I am today is a person's in my success, in my career, in my marriage, in my mothering, in [00:15:00] my friendships the way that I show up at work.

If you work with me, you know that I'm constantly speaking for the parts of myself that are activated only because of the therapy that I've had, so. I've talked a lot about therapy and now it's your chance to get here. Better help. Better help is convenient.

It's flexible and it's affordable, and it's an easy and quick way to access a licensed therapist who can take you on your own journey of self-discovery. Better help is where it's at people. So my friends. They're committed to making sure that you are paired with the right therapist for you, and all you have to do is fill out this brief questionnaire and they're gonna match you with somebody.

So lately I've been having all these friends of mine be like, Gabby, what are you doing with your hair?

Are people like pulling the ends of my hair, [00:16:00] being like, are you wearing extensions? I'm like, no. I'm just taking collagen peptides. Leave me alone. My obsession right now is live conscious collagen peptides, obsessed. They have a chocolate version. I make it for myself at night. I put it in like a little hot cup, a little hot mug, and it is my nightly hot chocolate.

I'm getting my ca cow, which is good for my brain and my beautiful collagen, which is good for my gut, my skin, my hair, my nails, the whole thing. There are two great quotes that a mentor told me early on. Number one was when I was broke in my sister's couch and I had no money. He said, money comes to you when you're ready for it. And I was like, I feel pretty ready to have some money right now. I'm pretty, I'm struggling. And he was just like, it'll come to you when you're ready for it.

And it didn't hit me until maybe two years later when I started to make more money. I was like, ah, he was right. Because I had so much insecurity around it. I wasn't prepared for it. I wasn't ready for it. I didn't have a better relationship with it. I probably would've blown it had money come to me [00:18:00] sooner, which is why a lot of people who win the lottery or get inheritances, they blow it because they're not ready for it.

Yeah. Or they feel, oh, I'm not deserving of this. So they haven't healed their relationship yet. They haven't healed their relationship, but they feel undeserving. It's funny, I was looking to rent an office space recently and. I went to this building and, and the, the realtor was like, the person who owns this building has ownership guilt.

And I go, what do you mean? Because they were like, oh, you can do anything you want to this, and they'll pay for the renovation of it. 'cause the woman has ownership guilt. And I go, what do you mean? It was kind of like, well, her dad just gave it to her and she didn't earn it. She didn't like, she was just given this building and these properties because her dad passed it on to her.

She feels guilty about it and she just wants to like make people happy, right? Because she didn't create the value for it to be hers fully. Hmm. And I think there's something to that too. So that was one thing he said, he said, well, I wanted say one thing about that though. I've had a lot of people come up to me in my audiences in the [00:19:00] past and say, oh, I was given this money and I feel guilty about that.

I hear this, I've heard this a lot. And I would say, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Well you gotta shift your relationship to that then. That's for sure. Yeah. And then I'd also say. No, no, no. This is your responsibility to do something good with it. A hundred percent. Yeah. Yeah. And even if that good means it brings your family more joy or brings Yes.

But it's your responsibility if you've been given the gift mm-hmm. Or the privilege of that money. The question isn't about how wrong am I or what should I do to make up for this? The question is, what can I do to make good with this? Yeah. And, and not just blow it all. And it's the same thing when something traumatic happens to us.

Yeah. It's not our fault, but it is our responsibility to our responsibility. And to respond differently and to use it for what it is and interpret it differently. Yeah. It's our responsibility. You going through the challenges you went through me going through sexual abuse, it doesn't mean it was like my fault, but it is my responsibility to heal.

Yeah. And interpret these things and create meaning and try to do something good with it. Yeah. Just like if you've been given money. So that was one thing. Money comes to you when you're [00:20:00] ready for it, you're not ready for it. You better get ready quick. Yeah. And the second thing is the focus in business.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Yeah, we can launch a toothbrush company together and sell tons of toothbrush. I don't care about toothbrushes. You know, we could do any business we want just because we can do it. It doesn't mean we should completely, and we just gotta understand like, what is the the mission that's meaningful inside of you that you wanna make money with?

Yes. Because a lot of people do things just to make money, but there's no meaning behind it. Mm-hmm. You are in your meaningful mission, you are in your zone of genius. You've worked hard and figured it out over years, and it works because it flows out of you. It's also important for our listeners to know that maybe it was about 10 years ago, I was in your old apartment.

And you know, you and Matt were there and you had this beautiful system running and I was a fucking head case man. And I was looking to Lewis and I was like, how do I get myself out of this whole, and I had a [00:21:00] lot of money in the bank. You did. And you were just on Oprah and you had all those opportunities.

Oprah had this number one New York Times best seller that we Yeah. Crushing. It was crushing and I was just drowning. And it's because of my, that at the time, not just my money mindset, but my work mindset, which was if I don't do it, nobody else will. Interesting. And of course that's connected to the money, right.

And it was also connected to the career path. Yeah. And that's a belief I've been healing for so many years, and so many of the tools in this book are mm-hmm. Are so reflective of the way that my healing journey has been. And I think that both you and I as trauma survivors and thrivers mm-hmm. So much of our.

Maybe our commitment to success and some of that is, is behind that. Yes. But at the same time, the same journey that we've gone on to heal that trauma is the same journey we've gone on to heal the money mindset. A hundred percent. Yes. And it, you know, it's funny 'cause you brought up a story. I was at some fancy talk, I don't know, four months ago and some big celebrity was giving a talk and I was meeting with him backstage [00:22:00] and I had seen his work over the years and he's just, you, you've seen his work.

I don't wanna call him out here, but. I was like, how are things going man? And he goes, man, I've got this opportunity and this project and this. I'm always on calls trying to fix problems, but there's so many opportunities coming to me and I go, what is it you want? He's like, I just want more peace and I want more time with my wife, my kids, but I don't have any time.

I go, why are you taking on these next projects? Why are you taking on these big projects? Well, they're coming to me and I'm like, well, just 'cause you have them doesn't mean you have to take them. Like live into the peace that you want. That's right. Don't just make more money because it's there. That's right.

That's not a rich life. You're stressing yourself out for bigger and better opportunities. If you can't create space or boundaries to spend time with your wife, your kids, or just live in peace in your own mind, in your own body, then what's it all for? Yeah. What's it all for? So I think it's always coming back to reflection moments for us.

Like I just, we just came back from my wedding. Yeah. And part of my rich [00:23:00] life was. Not having balance, but having alignment. Yeah. It's not about like I need to balance this much time a day for this and my family and my work. It's more like, am I feeling aligned? Yeah. Do I feel aligned energetically with how much time I'm spending on my projects versus my fitness versus my friends and family versus with Martha?

Am I in alignment energetically? Yeah. Future babies. Exactly. Am I setting myself up for success? Yeah. Success is my future self thanking me. And all the things that I'm doing. Yeah. And, and that's what I wanna be doing. And there's seasons of what we just got. It is my future self Yes. Thanking me. Yeah. And all the things that I am doing.

And part and part of it is, it's a crazy first three months of the year, the fires happened in la Yes. Right. For the first month. Then Martha's grandfather passes away and there's a grieving for weeks, then a wedding, a celebration, then a book launch, and a book tour for a whole month podcast. I. It's a lot happening all at [00:24:00] once.

It doesn't mean it's gonna be a lot happening all at once, forever. Mm-hmm. And just making sure I know what season it is. There's gonna be time for realigning afterwards and not jumping into the next big thing right away. Yes. Like giving myself that space and energy and I think a lot of people miss out on that.

We've both been in the wrong side probably where we've taken on every project. Yeah. 'cause we feel like we have to. Yeah. We don't have, no, we don't. You've been such a teacher to me, so I really am so excited for the reader because. This book Make Money Easy. You've actually been a money and career guide for me in so many ways, energetically, truly.

Yeah. Just because you've been a power of example for me, I feel like many, you've been almost like 10 steps ahead of me in the energy of it. And the piece around it. Mm. And so I really do see you as the perfect author of this book. And it's like, who doesn't want mon make money? Easy. A hundred percent.

I wanna close with this question for you before you ask me the final question. Yes. I wanna make sure your audience hears this. Yes. Because I think it's important for them to hear. What your biggest money block is? Oh, my biggest money block. What do, because you've made a lot of money over the years. I don't have any anymore right now.

You don't feel like you have any? I don't have any. Oh, I don't have any money blocks. I don't. You don't feel any stress around money ever or any anxiety around it ever? Or No. Feel like it's hard for you to get to a new level of financial abundance? No. Or nothing? No. That's good. No, I think that the blocks may have been more around like that story I've shared so often.

If I don't do it, nobody else. Mm-hmm. It's like around support. Yeah. Like where's the support, where's that? But in terms of making money, mm. I know that I. The energy of money is absolutely in complete alignment with the energetic currency that I put out. Yes. And I know that if, as long as I'm in the [00:29:00] authentic currency of the truth that I wanna share and the work that I'm here to give, that I will be abundantly supported.

That's great. And so. That mindset is very clean for me. That's cool. Yeah, and so I really wanted share that very honestly. That's beautiful. It's important to always, as a teacher be like, well, here's my vulnerable truth. Uhhuh. It was also important to be like, no, actually healing is real. And I was a kid who grew up with nothing uhhuh in a very wealthy town.

I was really, had nothing, so much struggle financially, was a very ugly relationship to money and that I can now, today, you know, have loose cash in my wallet, my purse. What do, what do you think is the main thing that supported you in the last decade to feeling. Peaceful around money. Mm. Like what is the main thing that you had to break through to get you there that you think would help your listeners?

My, the main thing for me around money and it, it, that I've really worked through most in the last two decades really is really accepting that I can spend money to get the support that I [00:30:00] need to do more of what I'm here to create. That's great. Some about spending money on this thing or that thing.

That's great too. I actually do think that once you have that money, you should also, whenever I go do a big talk in another country, it's called, this is this. There's something abundant that I do. It's actually, it's my sense you buy some new shoes, you buy Buy a purse. Buy bag. That's cool. I gotta, I got, I got like, like a nice Gucci bag or something.

I got like, I got like airport. A lot of airport bags. Like when you're in the airport, it's like duty free. Yeah. But I'll just have come off of like a huge tour in Australia and I'll have had like given so much. Mm. Given so much. Energetically, and then I'll go in. That bag represents the, my airport bags represent the gift, the regalo.

But Okay. This is a big one because I'm glad you mentioned this before we wrap up. Yes. 'cause I don't think I ever celebrated my successes. It was just like, go on, let's go. Let's keep grinding. Me too. For a long time. Yeah. And in the last three years I've started to really celebrate and buy stuff for myself.

Totally. But I never would've bought from, I'm like. [00:31:00] Gonna, why am I gonna spend this much money on a watch or this? Yeah. I, I wasn't that guy. Yeah. But now I'm doing it. Yeah. And it feels good. And I think it's another, a new level of unlock, so I'm glad you said that. Oh yeah. Celebration is currency as well.

Yes, it is. It doesn't have to be spending to celebrate, but that is a, an act of celebration. Well, you know, spending mindset. This is actually something we should talk about for a second. Spending mindset is real too because growing up with so little, when I was young, my parent, my mom would give me all these like kind of crappy things 'cause they were cheap, but she'd gimme like a bunch of crappy things and I would always feel so much guilt and sadness, very core wound sadness because I'd be like.

She just spent that money on this stuff that she didn't have that money and I don't want this thing. You don't want. Oh, bad. And so even to this day, if my husband gets me something really special, that's, he got three times this year. I was like, I need to return these beautiful things. And it was really epic.

Because you didnt want it Because I didn't. I felt a core wound that he spent money on, like a lot of money on something that I didn't really want [00:32:00] or that it wasn't gonna be something I would use all the time, even though it was something stunning. And so this is a core wound, right? Oh yeah. Yeah. And it was epic.

Really hard for heartbreaking. So this, but this is interesting though that now, so you still have some of these wounds Yes, exactly. Are some blocks around receiving. Around receiving, yeah. Yeah, yeah. So that's a block. Yeah, that, oh, definitely. That's a block around creating more financial abundance. That's, that's a block around.

More around because for myself, I have control over what I buy myself. But that's a, that But receiving is still around money. That's right. Yeah. There's a money wound there. Yeah, there's a money wound. There's a core money wound there. Yeah. Yeah. And it doesn't make, there's a money wound. It's when you are in control.

You don't have a block when you're not in, when you're not in control. Oh, you nailed me. Oh, yes, you got it. So when you're not in control and someone gives it to you, specifically your husband. The more intimate the relationship, the more, and that's still my money. Our money's our, our collective money. Yes.

And you're feel there's a, there's a bigger wound connect connected to that. There's a there's a lack mentality there. There's just a wound. Okay. Get back to the book. And it's a, and it's a part of your money story. Yes, yes, yes. And your money [00:33:00] style is, you're right. I feel bad and guilty 'cause I don't like this thing.

I'm gonna go return it. Yes. Or I'm gonna hurt his feelings if I don't or whatever. Yes. And I'm wasting this money 'cause I'm not gonna use it. Yes. And so it's just something to notice. Well, you know what though? Like, like, see that bag? Yes. You can see it. Nobody else can. Beautiful. There was a bag he got me that I didn't want this, this story happen.

And it wasn't that I didn't want the bag, anyone would be like, this is an epic bag. But I was like, it's gonna get dirty, whatever. And I was getting upset about it, but then I said to him, I want that one instead. And then he, then he returned the other one and got me that one. Got this one. But, but even by saying that that was healing my money story, let me explain to you why.

Oh. Because it was my ability to say, you know what? I want something special from you. And I want to be able to look at it every time I wear it and be like, this is abundance, this is joy. And when I would look at the other one, it would feel like lack to me, because this is up. 'cause it's a gift, right? So you have to, there's still more to shake out here.

Sure. But the, but the actual, looking at that other bag would feel like, lack to me because I'd be afraid to wear it. 'cause it was white and it wasn't the exact thing I wanted and I [00:34:00] knew it was. Expensive. So the energy around it felt lacking. That's interesting. So, so it felt like, listen man, I know that you did this really beautiful thing, but let's just, let's just make this so it feels good.

And so I think there's, there's a little bit more to shake out there. Okay. There's a lot to shake out there. Good one is definitely receive nice gifts from your husband. Period. But, but, but more, but, but at the same time. If you know it's expensive and you, you know, I think that bag, I wear that bag and I feel fucking abundant with that bag.

Now, what shifted in you then? Was it just communicating what you wanted? Was it Yeah, and it was creating a new agreement around gifts and receiving. It was recognizing that, that, that my little girl, if she had taken the gift. She that she didn't really want Uhhuh and she knew how expensive it was, that it was gonna be actually really painful for her.

And while it was gonna be uncomfortable for him to, to not, you know, get me to take the gift that he wanted right away, that he wanted to give me that, that might be a little uncomfortable for him. But I still had to take care of the little girl. Wow. And I had to, and the way that I took care of the little girl was to say, listen.

This is an extraordinary [00:35:00] gift. I love it so much. Thank you so much, and I'm so grateful. I appreciate you and love you so much, and you have the best style ever. And I'm worried that I'm gonna get this dirty and I'm not gonna wanna put it on the floor and that it's, and it's very expensive, and I wanna have something that when I look at it, I'm like, my man got me that, and I feel so good about it, and I need to feel good about it.

So while it sounds like messed up, oh, you didn't take your husband's gift. And in some ways you just take the gift and you're like, thank you. Right. But in other ways is I wanted to feel the energetic currency around that, that gift. I think that's beautiful. You're creating, and that gift right now is a $2 bill floating in it that you do.

Yeah, that's two bill that's gonna get lost on the ground somewhere. Someone will pick it up. It's good. It does my. It's okay. And that's okay if it does, but that actually is not like me having the loose money. That money ain't coming out the wall. That money, that money's still in the bag. Yeah, of course.

It might be loose in the bag, but it's in the bag. But I think this is an important thing for your audience to hear because originally you were like, ah, I'm good. I don't how many blocks. That's a block, but it's there. That's a block. That's a block. Yeah. And it's a powerful opportunity for you and your man to, to just say, Hey, listen, I love that you give me gifts.

Yeah. [00:36:00] But I've had this wound inside of me when I was a kid where I got these gifts. This is what we did, it's what we did. That was the conversation. And maybe you can create a new agreement like, please keep giving me amazing gifts that you like. Yeah. Yeah. And is it okay if when I receive them. The next day I can say, you know what?

I really wanna exchange her for something else. Yeah, yeah. And we create that agreement. Yeah. And you know what? For Valentine's Day when we were in Mexico, he bought me this little, like mariosa, like a little, a little butterfly ring. Wow. And you know, it was like a, you know, I don't know, it wasn't a very expensive gift forever, but it was like the most meaningful thing.

Of course. It was not about the money. Right. Yeah. And I really, the message that we had was. My core wound doesn't like to receive expensive things that I'm not sure I'm gonna wear. Yes. And so I was like, it's not about the small stuff, it's when it's an expensive thing. Mm. That contract is there now.

That's interesting. You know? So beautiful. Yeah. It's, it, there's so much in this, but money is money. It's like, it's like money is one of the biggest things that can take us down. Uhhuh and this book Make Money Easy is gonna be one of the greatest things to lift this up. Thank you. I'm excited. I, this is such a fab conversation.

I'm excited. [00:37:00] I'm excited, babe, this is Pedro again. What you said at the end, our money wounds can, can hurt us in a big way if we don't learn to recognize them. You just recognize one of yours. It's still there as an adult. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. From childhood, I have all these money wounds as well from my childhood that I have to keep mending and healing that relationship and by, by forgiving myself when I was younger for stealing, for taking, for doing all these things that I wasn't proud of.

But by forgiving myself, I. Creating a new relationship with my money story so that I have a different style today. I can flow differently with money. I can spend money easier on expensive things. I can celebrate myself. I can do all these things differently and not feel bad about it anymore. Yeah, and it feels good.

So proud of you. Yeah, thanks. This is the best book. I'm so psyched. Thank you. Appreciate it. Yes. Okay, so everybody go grab your copy of Make Money Easy by my brother Lewis. How is this book is gonna fly off the shelves? Like it's just gonna fly off the shelves?
